Our Grading Standards
While some bat manufacturers depend on sawmills for wood processing—which includes harvesting logs, sawing them into billets, and kiln drying to the correct moisture level—this method focuses primarily on “appearance grade” standards, which emphasize visual perfection over structural integrity. In contrast, our proprietary grading system at Leatherstocking Hand-Split Billet Co. ensures both aesthetic and structural excellence. We offer four grades of Hard Maple, three in Ash, and two grades of Birch and Soft Maple, ensuring consistent and reliable quality across all our products.
