The Leatherstocking Region
At Leatherstocking Hand Split Billet Co., we do more than make wooden billets. We keep alive a piece of New York’s history. Our company has deep roots here, a place known for its toughness and great workmanship, which you can see in every billet we make.
The Leatherstocking Region is named after the famous leather leggings from James Fenimore Cooper’s stories including The Last of the Mohicans which was made into a movie in the early 90’s starring Daniel Day Lewis. This region shows the long-lasting strength and skill of our past. We make our billets in the same place where the Iroquois Confederacy once lived, surrounded by landscapes that have inspired many artists and writers.
When you hold one of our products, you’re not just holding a piece of wood. You’re holding a piece of American history, shaped with the same spirit that was part of the early frontier days. Every billet from Leatherstocking Hand-Split Billet Co. isn’t just a tool; it’s a bridge to the past, crafted with care and precision, ready to be part of your story.
